Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)

What is the Dignity Act?

The Dignity Act was signed into law in September of 2010.  But was not fully in effect until July 2013.


The Dignity Act seeks to provide the state’s public school students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment, and bullying on school property, a school bus and/or a school function.

The Dignity Act prohibits...

Acts of harassment & bullying (including cyberbullying) and/or discrimination, by employees and students on school property and/or school function and/or bus.


Including, but not limited to, conduct based on: 

  • a student’s actual or perceived race, 
  • color, 
  • weight, 
  • national origin, 
  • ethnic group, 
  • religion, 
  • religious practice, 
  • disability, 
  • sexual orientation, 
  • gender (defined to include gender identity or expression),
  • Sex
  • Discrimination based on race includes hairstyles and traits associated with race

If you think there has been a Dignity Act occurrence you need to fill out the DASA reporting form which you can find in the office or our website.


The form will be reviewed by the Dignity Act Coordinators:

  • Meg Sheehan, Principal
  • Jen Biblowitz, Counselor
  • Justine Koo, Psychologist


The coordinators will determine the next steps.
